Like many of his Japanese counterparts the Korean director Bong likes to tell his stories in tightly framed compositions. By shooting most of this masterful thriller with a telephoto lens, cinematographer Hong Kyung-pyo achieves a graphically flat quality that compresses very much information into the frame while still keeping us at a distance to the characters whose motives and thoughts remain in the dark for much of this masterful thriller.
Wie viele seiner japanischen Kollegen erzählt der koreanische Regisseur Bong seine Geschichten gerne in eng gefassten Bildkompositionen. Mit Hilfe des Teleobjektivs erzielt Kameramann Hong Kyung-pyo graphisch flache Bilder, die sehr viel komprimierte Information enthalten und uns trotzdem auf Distanz zu den Figuren halten, deren Motive und Gedanken zum grössten Teil im Dunkeln bleiben.
